Ed advises on all aspects of commercial law and civil litigation. He is business-focused with a Bachelor Degree in Commerce (accounting and economics), and Masters Degrees in contract law from Canterbury and Oxford University with First Class Honours and Distinction respectively.
As a litigator, Ed acts as counsel in cases from High Court to Supreme Court, many of which are reported, and represents clients in mediations and arbitrations. His advice covers numerous fields including property and business insurance claims, design and construction issues, professional negligence, trust matters, judicial review, complex debt recovery and insolvency, and property challenges particularly relating to unit titles, subdivisions, easement/covenant removal or modification, and leasing.
Outside the courtroom, Ed assists clients with capital raising and corporate structure, securities and financing including in the agri-business industry, property dealings, and insurance.
Ed is published in the Journal of Contract Law and the New Zealand Law Journal, a former member of the NZLS Civil Litigation and Tribunals Committee, and is a NZLS Standards Committee member determining complaints against lawyers.
